Pasadena Sunday
Dear John
I have felt like writing you a long, old time letter in remembrance of August days in 1873; but it is impossible to reach personal enjoyments in the midst of so pressing family cares. But [the?] Photos last night recd from Lillian [Scidman?] a Madison girl who now hails from Washington City and who has been travelling in Alaskan waters this summer. Phots of the Muir glacier impel me to ask you to do yourself & her the pleasure of calling upon her at the Occidental Hotel, S.F.
She will be in Frisco all through the Conclave

She is [tright?], responsive, & an excellent [raconteur?]
You know that both for your own sake, & the darlings of your heart, I rejoice in all that gives you honor and happiness and am always yours faithfully
Jeanne Carr.
