Dear brother John
Your letter and order was received and today I had it cashed. To Mother I handed five dollars. To Annie and Joanna their portions, to also to Ethel, Bessie, and Bernice Celia and Grace I will send tomorrow and to Anna G. E. the first opportunity. so you will probably hear from all of them soon. In this way they can each get what seems to them the best.
John I send you many

thanks for my share in your kind though and act. I intend to send for your book: The Mountains of California I have read mothers copy but I want to have one of my own. I enjoy it so much as I do everything you write. I suppose you are still busy writing, writing. I wonder when your next book will be ready.
Yesterday, Christmas day passed pleasantly. Joanna and the children were here to dinner and the day was bright and sunshiny. Mother was pretty well and enjoyed it all. I went to the

Post Office in the morning and came home with many Christmas remembrances for one and another.
Hiram and Anna were not with us. I suppose they were afraid to bring their babies so far, in the cold. So my girls were all away from the home for the fist time on Christmas day.
Mother had a letter from Dan today, the time is past off again, he thinks now he will be with us on the 10th of next month, we will enjoy the visit. I think it will be seven years since he was with us
