My dear Mr. Muir:

As you will see by our Oct. number in a few days, we are still climbing. It will be the best we have put out yet.
I am mapping a Christmas number away ahead of our record. Jessie Benton Fremont [diacritic] has written me a valuable article for it, & is lending me all the precious miniatures for illustration. All the rest of the company will be good; & I so wish we might have a peak from you--if only a page, but preferably two or three pages so it can be

fitly illustrated. If it could be something of our southern Sierra Madre, we could get lovely pictures.
But anything you will, if you will!
We are in more promising shape than ever, & feeling very well. Really, the little monthly has done wonders for its age, in a business way; & not an unpaid contributor to rise up & call it cursed.
I hope you will be goodnatured! And at any rate, please let me know, that I may get my Chinese-puzzle in due shape.

Sincerely,

Chas. T. Lummis
