Mr. John Muir
Dear Sir,
It is my intention to visit the forest region of the Sequoia Gigantis below King's River, this summer. I intend passing up as many of the forks of the Dur Cr. Tule R. and Kaweah R. as practicable observing the present condition of the forests, photographing some, collecting herbarium specimens of the flowers of the Sequoia region, and extending explorations into the high Sierras of Mts Brewer Tyndall & Whitney later in the season if we have time. A student accompanies me.
In conversation with Prof. John M. Stillman he expressed the opinion that you had gone over this region for the purpose of learning the Sequoia distribution & mapping the areas. If so did you publish a map of these areas or a description? If I could learn where such was to be obtained I should be much gratified. I only know of F. J. Walker's sketch map of this region.
Yours very respectfully
William R. Dudley
