I was glad to get yr letter I enjoyed with your father & mother camping very much - for it is always pleasant to hear from & be remembered by fellow travels in strange wild countries whose company one has enjoyed in the [wildest?] of Gods beautifuly wilderness in strange lands & I spent about a week in the Kauri woods & had a glorious time The "Kauri P[illegible]", Ag[illegible] Australis formerly called Dem[illegible] Australis is one of the very noblest & most impressive of all the great & beautiful trees

where acquaintance I've made in my long wonderings. I went to Sydney by the st[illegible] - a[illegible] [illegible] Then made an excursion about 2600 [illegible] far long into Queensland by rail stage & present carriage. All the way through forests many of them exceedingly beautiful with palms Eu[illegible], T[illegible] Figs & E[illegible]s of a hundred species but the glory of these forest are the 2 A[illegible] A. Bidwelli & A C[illegible] especially the B[illegible] a perfectly glorious tree as seen at home on

the Bunya mtns. 150 to nerly 200 ft [h.?] rejoining in wildness soaring with majestic p[illegible] round & dark & mossy high above its noble amps But I must stop description or this letter will spread into a book.
Returning to Sydney I sailed to Manila by way of Port D[illegible] & [illegible]. Had good times in the beautiful Philippine woods. Thence went to Hong Kong - Thence home by way of Shanghai Japan & Honolulu Reaching home by the end of May
