Dear Sister Mary
I wish you & all the family a happy new year, hoping that you are in good health. We are all about as usual except Helen who is not yet fairly recovered from her sickness (pneumonia) of last winter. David has been quite sick but is nearly well again, Sarah has gone to her daughter Anna at Picific Grove
I'm busy writing.
How silent you are.
With love to you all, I am ever affectionately
Your brother John Muir
