Dear Mr Muir
I feel very very grateful to you for your letter about my article in "Out West". It is my first magazine article and yours is the first praise. I count your letter as the most precious one I ever received and I feel a few heads taller. I told Dr Jordan about it and he said "what Muir says goes, as he is the best authority on such subjects" Thank you very very much.
I do hope the Bull Creek Redwoods

can be spared as those who have seen the grove consider it as the finest.
The California Club and the [illegible] National Park Association are going to make an effort to save the Redwood Canon [diacritic] groves, 600 acres of which are offered for sale for $80,000.
Dr Merriam and Mr Nelson are at Point Reyes this week. I hope you will dine with us during there stay. Thanking you again for your kind letter I remain your sincere friend
