My dear Sir,-
An alumni association of U. W. having been recently formed it is proposed that a banquet be the occasion of our next meeting. Prof. Frederick J. Turner is to give a course in American history at the U. C. summer school during July and if we can find a time convenient for everybody the banquet will be given while he is here.
It is important that a date be selected as soon as possible and I am asked to inquire of you whether you can come on a Friday evening toward the end of July or the first week in August. The committee desires to invite you to respond to a toast. Dr O'Connor will by that time have returned from the semi-centennial celebration held at Madison next week, whither he went as one of our delegates and his report will be due. Prof. Hoskins of Stanford, Mr. Townley of Ukiah and the Hayes Brothers and Mr Rogers of San Jose will be invited to take part in the speech making and a pleasant affair will celebrate the first formal gathering of the alumni in this part of California.
Perhaps you may be able to make additions or corrections to tth enclosed list of our available members. The committee wishes to have every one notified.
Possibly you will remember my father, E. D. Cornish, as a fellow student with you at Madison in the early sixties. He spent the winter here and was diappointed in finding you away.
