This afternoon I start back to Sidney Australia by the steamer Gelandia After a most instructive & charming six weeks in the two New Zealand islands, Have traveled hard studied hard & enjoyed & eaten hard. with health & strength renewed. A lot of detail as to life & work
here Mr Kling to whom I gave a letter will no doubt furnish by word of mouth He left (Auckland) for S.F. direct a few days ago. I was sorely tempted to go with him, but nature seems to hold & drive me to work here as in the old Sierra days. In particular I must see something of Queensland's Araucaria Forests
