Let me congratulate you on the (completion of your grand) 8th Vol of the Sylva a truly grand piece of work (&) perfectly beautiful in illustration & [illegible] & withal as calmly sound & strong as oak the work of a [illegible] Your firm smooth sustained flight over all the oak forests & chaparral of the continent is admirable in every way, such strength of wing & keenness of vision is precious rare among mortals & - but Ill write no more s[illegible] anything I might say must seem weak on such a t[illegible]. I can only thank you wh I do most heartily & re[illegible]
