Dear Sister Sarah,
I sent you a petition to sign which no doubt you have received ere this John Reid David, Maggie & myself thought the settlement of Anna's estate had better be done in the regular way, all the heirs sharing lawfully alike, & then dividing as they thought best under the present circumstances, instead of trying to make legal the memorandum written years ago.
We are about as usual, Maggie rather better. I return Marys letter. With love to Anna & the little ones Ever affectionately
