My dear Mr Emerson
I have commenced writing up some of my Studies in the Sierra, & I am sure you will be delighted with them however ill presented for all the scriptures of the glacial snow-crystals are glorious The Overland Monthly will contain a study each month through’t the year, & you must promise to read them

some of the subjects will be. Ancient glaciers of the Sierra & their pathways Glacial denudation, Post glacial denudation, Geological value of shadows, Lakes, Fountains, Waterfalls, Living glaciers, Forest, Gardens, Avalanches etc —————————— I’m glad [deleted: you] that all the world is becoming wise enough to love you – I’ve been lonely all winter with my friends.
