Martinez, April 3, 1903.
Dear Sister Mary:-
I am glad to hear from you once more. We all know that naturally you and Joanna lived closer to Sister Anna than the rest of us, and you the nearest. But we have much as a family to be thankful for. Few families as old as ours is are so whole.
I leave home for Yosemite with the President May 14th and on the 18th, without returning home, start for Boston by the Santa Fe; and as I should be in Boston by May 23d or 24th, of course I can't stop off anywhere. Therefore I will say Good bye to you all and Heaven bless you.
David will attend to matters connected with (settling up Anna's estate.
Affectionately your brother
