Mr John Muir,
Dear Sir.
Yours of Jan, 20 was duly received, and I sincerely thank you for your kindly reply to my request to the Smithsonian Institution
It was a happy chance that they referred it to you for I would not dare make the request of you, myself, had I known where to reach you - and I am more then delighted to own an autograph letter
03158
of John Muir aside from receiving the desired information - and allow me to add that there is for me a charm in your description that excels Allen - [Tom?] Dyke - Burroughs etc.
You ask no fee but surely postage is your due.
Again I thank you.
Sincerely yours
Mrs James E White
