[First draft of letter,in note-book]
[January,1903].
Mr.Malcolm P.Anderson,
Menlo Park.
Dear Mr.Anderson,
We are all delighted with the news of your father's greatly improved health, and his hopeful looking forward to University work. Come up and see us, and bring your father. Short trips may be good for [him].
I thank you for keeping that Abies in mind on your trip up the Stickeen. The one I wanted is probably Lasiocampa. On a mountain back of G--? it forms the most beautiful beds of chaparral I ever saw.
With best wishes for the New Year, I am,
Sincerely yours,
[John Muir]
