To the Secretary of the Smithsonian [illegible] Institution - Washington, D.C.
Dear Sir:-
Will you kindly give me a seven to ten minnet sketch of the life and works of John Muir, who as I understand is in the employ of the government as geologist and perhaps in other capacities, in our National Parks and Reservations.
From the literary point I have "Wild Parks and Forest Reservations of the West"- "The Yellowstone National Parks"- "Among the Animals of the Yosemite-" and "The Grand Canon [diacritic]
03133
of the Colorado"- magazine articles-
How much the government gives gratis I do not know. If there is a fee attached to the replying to such requests - kindly inform me and I will willingly forward the same-
Enclosed find stamped and addressed envelope-
Trusting my request is not extravagant - and hoping an early reply I am
Sincerely yours
Mrs James E. White
