My dear Mr. Muir -

In your last letter, you said you couldn't come down and see us - that was all very well, for then - but, sometimes, circumstances alter [cases?] - and here are the circumstances:
Next week, Thursday, April 21, Mrs. Heart (of University - Board of Regents) is to dine with us at 6.30 - My wife would be glad to have you meet Mrs Heart. She says Mrs. H. is soon to go to Washington - and if she were to have a talk with you about forest reservation, etc., it might lead her to aid that idea in Washington.
I was to telegraph to you to-day, so that my wife would know - but I couldn't explain by wire - so I write - and, as you will get this to-morrow morning, I ask you to wire me here to-morrow- I go to the farm Friday, but your message will be sent to my house - my wife goes to the farm Saturday morning -
If you, come, you will stay the night with us - no dinner party - all informal -

Your friend
