Dear Mr. Muir:
No sooner have we published one of your papers than of course we begin to hope for another. This article on the Yellowstone Park is most admirable, and I cannot help thinking how attractive a chapter it will be in book form when we reach that stage. I wish I had time to send you every day the things that I hear about your papers, but I am ashamed to confess that the appreciation which is expressed by word of mouth, as well as by letters that come here and get covered up in the endless volume of routine work, are not transmitted to you as they ought to be, but the readers of the Atlantic, you may be sure, are heartily grateful to you. I need not add that the editor's gratitude is yours always.
The publishing department of the magazine is now making up announcements of the future articles, and I wish that you would be kind enough to send title, and an explanatory sentence or two about the next one or two that we may hope from you.
