concerned on Lotties sickness
Martinez, March 1/98
My dear Mr. Lukens
We were very glad to receive your letter Yesterday telling dear little Lottie's return to health through the terrible dangers of that Scarlet Fever. Now the danger lies in taking cold & bringing on after effects too well known that last a lifetime - blindness deafness etc. No doubts you will guard her most strictly against this.
Heaven bless the child is the prayer of your friend.
