Dear Helen. I suppose you are stopping at grandpas now. & I am far away but I think of you all the time, & miss you very much. The waves in the sea were very big & stormy & I often thought about poor Paddy [Brogan?] when he saw many a big sea wave Ive crossed & me & poor old Ireland lost. We saw a lot of whales spouting about & [illegible] themselves & looking at the ship. & many beautiful
birds that live on the water & yet never get wet & never get lost & God takes care of them. When you grow big then you must come here & see all these beautiful things & places. Some little girls are on the ship, but the ship jumped about so much they could not walk. I think you would have been afraid if you had been on the ship to see the waves jumping so much & making so loud a roaring noise. I send you & Wanda a kiss & love
