Dear David,
The fine view of your handsome new home and your family so very beautifully arranged in front as well as the shaggy pony - arrived safely. We are all delighted with the whole thing one or two remarked that you looked more solumn than usual. I expect it caused you a good deal of anxiety to get all arranged to fit your mind

I decided to have the picture framed and expect to have it done this week. Thank you for your kindness in sending it. Joannas recovery is very slow & think but the baby grows remarkably well her name is Walter is still in Philadelphia and will be for a good while yet. I understand Anna E. Muir & Anne Reid at Lincoln during the fair. We hear very little about John Reid.
