O dear Louis here's more & were these letters not accompanied by the documentary printed evidence you might almost think that these reptiles were bred & born in alcohol. "The Parson & the Snakes" Think of that for sunday reading Waht is to become of this nation & the Examiner It's Johnson too Who would have thought it. I think of Longfellows daughter being signed to such an article. Well Im pegging away but very slowly Have got to the 30th page enough in four days for five minutes reading

& yet I work hard but the confounded subject has got so many arms & branches, & I am so cruelly severe on myself as to quality & honesty of work that I cant go fast, I just get tired in my head & lose all power of criticism until I rest awhile. Its very noisy here but I dont notice it. I sleep well & eat well & my queer throat feeling has nearly vanished - The weather is very cool. Have to put my overcoat on the bed to reinforce the moderate cover. Wear two pair of drawers & have cold legs & feet & fingers only head warm. Good night Love to babes & all JM
