Oakland, Cal., June 25th 1889

Dear Muir

Coming back from the South after a weeks absence. I see your telegram - which like the Irishmans chicken, when being [bolted?] supposing it was a fresh egg. "spak too late"

I am still in the go between times, just back from Monterey and tomorrow for [Paso?]Robles etc. back last of the week after which I expect to keep quiet for a time while departing the [illegible] of a journey East. Let me know before I start what you have on the [taxies?]. A late letter from Mrs. P says she is also on the wing and expects

to fall in with Miss Annie at Portage City! The [Lemmons?] are wrestling with the forest question: & now at Shasta counting the [scales?] in the five flowers. etc etc etc [Greene?] by last accounts was [illegible] on his way to Colorado to spend some of the [illegible] funds of McDonald. The funnyest thing with the marriage of the [illegible] to her botanical assistant (not Harkness) at the [illegible]! what will the harvest be? Hope wife & babies are well.

[Yours?] truly

C. C. Parry
