Professor John Muir

Martinez –

Dear Sir

I am planning with a friend an excursion into Kings River Canon, hoping to be able to ascend Mt. Tyndall. As we desire to learn as much of the country before – hand as possible, I write to ask if you could refer me to where I could find plate [67 – B&D?] of Wheeler’s Maps, which includes this region. Inquiry at the Coast Survey was not satisfactory as their set was incomplete. I hope that I do not trespass upon your indulgence in making this inquiry – Your recent article in the “Century” has induced me to apply to you.

Very respectfully yours,

Elliott McAllister.
