wishes Wanda and Helen had been here to eat some fo her birthday cake that had "Ethel" on it in candy.
Walter says he knows he ought to have written you, and will soon, but is not quite ready he had had some very try- ing delays in his business. He did not tell me to say this but I know it is a long time since he has written you. I hope that one or both of you will write some times for we like to know of your welfare. We have had a very pressing invitation to come to Cal. to visit Mr and Mrs [Turner?] who are located in Los Gatos. It would be very pleasant to accept the invitation and visit you too, but that will be imposs sible at present, doubtless the time will come. Walter wishes to be remembered with kindest regards to you all.
With much love Joanna.

How does "Pcituresque California" pro- gress, and how does your health endure the close application? I manage to write a little story once in a while for the children' book, but household cares take so much of my time that I do not accom plish much in that direction

We are having magnificent weather, the children play out of doors most of the time and are in robust health. Ethel wishes Wanda to know that she has just had a nice little birthday party. It being her sixth birthday She says she
