Kansas City, Mo.,Jan. 24, 1887.John Muir, Esq.,Martinez, Cal. Dear Brother:Yours of Jany. 15th containing N.Y. Dft. for $1,400 came safely. This, as you say, will be quite sufficient to take up the $2000 mortgage.Tell A[nnie] L. that she had better come over here and tame Joanna and me rather than go up into those infernal regions to tame those scalp-lifting devils! I am very glad that she is well. We would like to see her very much if her health will allow of the journey.Hastily,Walter Brown
