Dear Mr Muir.
The Palton's are once again on the Pacific coast Do you wish to see them enough to call at this great wilderness of a hotel to see them? At Chico we called on General and Mrs. Bidwell who said you were married and living at Martinez on a ranch. I send this note at a venture, hoping for an answer soon, or to have a call from yourself and Mrs Muir. We may remain here a few weeks before going to southern California.
Your old friends and fellow travelers, Ludlow and Abby H. Patton
