Prof. D S. Jordan:
Dear Sir,
I had an attack of the Grippe a month ago & all my work is in arrears, besides as you know lecturing is out of my line Therefore I must decline Your flattering invitation to lecture before the Academy of Sciences with cordial thanks for the honor.
I congratulate you, send you my best wishes & believe that now the Academy will do somewhat.
