[4]give my kindest love to little Wanda and [her?] mother tell them I shall yet hope to see them tell the little one that I am much pleased with her little letter she sent me and would like her to send me another I would also like [inserted "her"] mother to write me a letter when she can conveniently-With much love to all I am affectionately Mother01130[1]Portage March 6th 1884Dear JohnYour very kind letter of Jany was received and I would have written before this - but David told me he intended to write to you and he would tell you about all my affairs - as he knows every thing concerning them and very kindly assists me in anything he can do for me and Katie and all the children are very kind indeedI thank you for your very kind offer of a home with you in "Cal" [possibly Col] - I think it would be pleasant -
[2]_ but you well know that I am such a "home-body" that I never could even think of it - but I shall not forget your kindness in this matter -I cannot express to you my disappointment in not seeing you at the time you intended to visit us - Since you have had so many home cares and [illegible] I have refrained from writing on this subject but will yet hope to see you again, and also your wife and daughter.I am sorry to think that Annie does not seem to improve very much where she is I think if she had gone to Cal- last spring when she meant to Phillips[3] - she would have had a far better chance of regaining her health as it was she came back from [illegible] much worse than when she left home. I hope it will not be too late for her to try what your climate can do for her poor girlYour father this month reaches his eight[stuck out]th year and I am just nine years behind him, so we have reached the span of life allotted to us - and now we require to look forward to an abiding home eternal in the Heavens
