Dear Sister. I recd a letter last evening from Prof Butler stating that you had called when both he & his wife were absent. He hopes that you will call again - says that he will be very happy to know you & to assist you in any way that may be in his power After making his acquaintance you will feel more at home in the beautiful loving [illegible] [illegible] His conversation is very witty & cheerful & instructive & has a big [illegible] heart His son Henry is one of my very best & most affectionate friends You must seek his acquaintance too, which will all be easy when he knows that you are my sister. The little girls are also well worth knowing I am well acquainted with [Gracey?]

& susa & Charlie Sterling. Please remember me to them I wish Mrs Carr had been in Madison She is a most enthusiastic lover of Botany & nature in general & also of Music & sketching She would have assisted you very much What are you studying It is long since I heard from you I know that like Mendota is very beautiful now & the banks having [illegible] & Anemones. Send me one or two of Anemone [illegible] & An' Nattaliana - & send some of them seeds in the fall The snow is melting on the mtns' & the falls here are in glorious tune. Spring is far advanced the oaks are in leaf & thirty or fourty kinds of plants are in flower. I [anxiously?] wish you success
