Dear Mr. Muir:

I believe that you promised me a lamb, but I do not know. I think you did. We got your letter yesterday. I was eating hickory nuts when Merrill came in saying, "Mama has a letter from Mr. Muir."
I go to school and my teacher's name is Miss King. One day she said, "I will have to look out of the window because some of you behave so bad." To-day is vacation, only school begins Monday again. She said maybe she would leave school, but she did not. She went to Ohio, and she got back a little while ago. Are you all well? Goodbye.

Yours truly,
C[harles] W. Moores.

P.S. I forgot to tell you Jamie Ketcham has got the measles. I am thirsty so I will have to go and get a drink.

Returned.

Give my love to the lambs. I would like to be there. Aunt Mary Graydon has a baby. Goodbye.
