Dear John

Words cannot express my feelings when I received you letter of June 10th - We were all thouroughly alarmed for your safety - as so many letters were sent to San Francisco, and found no owner. David and Daniel both wrote to San Francisco but their letters were returned to them, after lying there thirty days, Sarah sent two and I sent two - how happy I am to know that you are well and comfortable, and have enjoyed life so much in the golden state after all your travels. I hope you will arrive in health in Wis -

We are all about our usual Daniel has not had fever this summer and is still in Mich. in the same situation, his address is the same. Margt. and Sarah and David and Mary and Anna and Joanna all met at the pic-nic on the fourth, and enjoyed them- selves greatly, the first three had all their families with them of course - Joanna is teaching this summer too - she is in the Mckay district your father or I drive over for her on friday evenings and take her back on Monday mornings so she is a good part of the time at home - hoping to hear again from you soon. I remain your affectionate Mother
