Dear Brother Daniel, as Sarah has left this page for me to fill, I do not know that I can more profitably do so, than by telling you the text from which Mr Whitney the Babtist Min- -ister preached this evening. You will find it in the second Chapter of Genesis 18th verse, "It is not good for man to be alone", Now Dan as I am always slow to advise, I will just leave the matter right here, for your own medit- -ation, knowing that "a word to the wise is enough'; I was indeed sorry that you did not get your plans carried out, but it may turn out for the best, at least let us hope so. Yes, "there's a Divinity that shapes our ends" "rough hew them as we wil." Just see how I have been cuff[illegible] around this last year from one thing to another; and yet I can't but say that goodness & mercy have followed me. We are well and enjoying ourselves in a measure, the worst thing is that we have to keep a hired girl, so I may say that "it is not good for man" to have too many women either. Do you need any money Dan? if so let me know and I shall remit as you direct. Wishing you good health, prosperity & hap- -piness. I subscribe myself as ever your af- -fectionate Brother David [illegible]

I was glad to hear that you were well and feeling some what at home but am sorry that you could not make arrangements to stay at Ob[illegible] Mother has been here several times since you left and is always enquiring very anxiously for word about you. on Christmas she had had no word from you except those few lines you sent when you left first
