Dear Sister & Brother I rec'd yours with ten dollars I was surprised to see so much money It will perhaps be useful before my journey is completed but whether or not I thank you for it very much as shewing your good nature I am thinner than usual and feel somewhat exhausted I have done more than usual though my health has not been so good I delivered a lecture at the examination yesterday upon [illegible]. It lasted over an hour I wish you could have been present to see how smart I am becoming. I begin to feel happy that I am about to
see you all and sorrowful that I am about to leave my Madison friends I have been talking with D Can - it is barely possible that I may study with some doctor here a while before going far from home I anticipate a good deal of pleasure from my trip and thank you for your good wishes Truly your Brother
