Dear Brother and Sister,

The glad Christmas time is coming near, and again I send you Christmas greetings, and pray that our heavenly father may send you his best gifts through the coming year, with plenty of good cheer to enjoy them to the utmost. I feel that one of my

very great blessings, is the having so many good brothers and sisters with whom I may exchange the glad, good wishes of the season, and all season for that matter. Mother received a letter to-day, from you John, and she tells me that you are all well except grandma. I am very sorry to know that she is ill. and hope that she may soon recover Tell her I always hold her in loving remembrance. I can never forget her great kindness to Maggie and I.

This year, I hope there will be no grippe to hinder you and the children from enjoying the holidays. The disease is very prevalent here. I do not think I ever knew a time, when there was more sickness, and death, in Portage than now. The winter thus far has been quite severe, with a great deal of snow-fall. there is rain, and thaw to-day, but we are told there is a cold wave at hand, with you, I suppose there is sunshine and roses. We are all in our usual
