Pelosi, Nancy: Moscone's empowering
Nancy Pelosi: We went into a transition, from the “Old Boys Network” to a much more beautiful, diverse, strong involvement of the community in all of its manifestations. And once unleashed, there was no turning back. George Moscone not only helped build that, benefitted by it, but took pride and would stand back and smile at the empowerment of new people. Some saw that as a threat. He (Moscone) saw it as the future.
The Moscone oral history interviews are part of the George Moscone Collection, MSS 328.
