Abstract

Wurtz uses artistic images from John Muir’s journals, letters, drawings, and manuscripts that are curated at the University of the Pacific to share some of the naturalist’s gripping near-death adventures – such as the time he experienced an earthquake in Yosemite Valley. Wurtz also examine how Muir used his masterful observational skills to study, promote, and protect our natural places.
