Description

Photo from Dimen Village of Wu Gaitian weaving drawstrings on a frame loom. The beginning of the woven drawstring is visible with old and new warp threads tied together to reuse the warp that has already been threaded through heddles during previous weaving. The warp passes through two sets of heddles in shafts. The front shaft is raised while the back one is lowered, creating a shed through which the weft is thrown.
