at your interest in my bits of [what] mechanical inventions. Also later a visit to your library and I think your son Charlie was one of my boys. I also remember your brother [superintendent of pub [public] instruction & [teacher] of Bible class in the Baptist Church. I’ll try to find him. What is his address in Palo Alto & next time I’m in [Pasadena] I’ll try to find your sister.

Are you coming to California? If so do not fail to come to my house. Muir Station on the Santa Fe road is [only] less than two hours from our home.

With kindest regards

I am faithfully yours

John M. [Muir]

fragile Muir Gl [glacier] ever since & [when] I have been busy telling the mourners to dry their tears for gls [glaciers] are less destructible [than the] mtns [mountains] as far as earthquakes are concerned [No doubt a good many bergs were hurried from the fronts a few minutes before their regular time?]

Excepting the premature discharges of bergs it can[not] [convince] of [any] no other effects likely to be caused by a shake but I have no authentic information.

I can easily believe that a big mass has fallen from the front of the Wind[ ] Glacier for on the very day of my first visit to the Taku Gls [Glaciers] a large mass fell from the undermined part of the snout over the main [outlet] draining stream damming it
