I received a letter from your father [the other] a few days ago with the grand news that you would be in Cal [California] with [young] [ ] [Mrs] Thayer about the [1st] of next month & asking me to advise you as to the places & things you should see as to the city. there is not much to see hardly more than in Boston. [There is a] The park with bits of odds & ends & a good many interesting bushes gathered from [everywhere] something like your arboretum & the Cliff House & other odds & ends &. I don’t know the way to these places but my daughter Wanda does. Then there are the Santa Cruz redwoods & Mt Tamaulipas no sae bad, as the Scotch say & within easy reach of the city. If you would like to visit these places would could plan for trips to them on Saturdays when Wanda who is at the University in Berkeley wld [would] go with no [guidance] & perhaps we could get Miss Eastmont. You would be a true Alice in Wonderland. But if [after] [convention] work is over you can go to the mtns [mountains], I’m your man, there I have

In reply to my last letter you mentioned the 20th of this mo [month] as the time you wld [would] attend to your note. I have waited five days. I will wait 2 days more. After wh [which] if you do nothing, I will [understand that you] no longer wait but put the matter in the hands of Mr T our lawyer. Foreclosing the mortgage only [gives] makes expense & trouble. [but] I have waited long I will no longer wait than the two days mentioned above. If then you do not appear on or before the 27, I will write no more, the lawyers must do the rest.
