Light [etc]

[Free [verse] copied ask]

Unsoiled traveler of the High Sierra

Wild fountain water scarce known to the earth

Light wild & young new arrived from the Sun.

Every radiant daisy, every green spiky leaf

Every sand grain & crystal, warm tropic valley & cold mountain canon [&] of all [the] our great shining globe are alike homes & temples of the sun

How human is God when we come to know Him [by Himself].

Pines

How impressively beautiful the orderly ranks of trim arrowy pines edging the [upland] glacier meadows

Chamaebatia foliolosa

Thrice pinnate glandular fragrant yellow green white [flrd] [flowered] makes beautiful carpets beneath the sugar-pines where the sun falls free. Here & there a Washington lily & or wild rose rises from its mantle of soft wavy green. or [arching] bunch of tall [waving] bromus arching & waving. No rough weeds, no roughness of any kind.

Gardens. Lake Tenaya.

Much of the [garden] soil of the Sierra gardens is composed of crystals & the glow & gleaming & glinting of the embedded gems [& their gleams & glinting] at different times of the day might well exhilarate the flowers that grow among them.

Lake Tanaya [Tenaya]

Some lakes in canons have but one inflowing & outflowing stream coming & going in music at head & foot while the lake itself deep in its canon bed is silent, seldom stirred by any wind

Others are centres of song, serene yet tremulous fed by a lacework of [plaited] rills singing through the encompassing mountains all the warm summer.

Tenaya is a basin full of mountain water as pure & blue as the sky that covers it

Its shores are singularly solid & bare giving the impression of a burnished bowl cut out of the hard porphyritic granite. Only at the E. [East] and W. [West] ends is there any soil – mostly thin meadow made by filling in.

The N [North] shore is particularly bald. & bold & displays some
