Scarcely [how we] were they driven [them] a hundred yards from the old corral ere they [caught the idea of getting away & went rumbling on away] seemed to know that at last they were going to new pastures & ran wildly through brush & [over logs] over fallen trees & bowlders [boulders] in a ragged [tossing avalanche like an] leaping struggling mass like
