The Yell[ow] pine of eastern slope sturdy knotty [wide] branched long [leaved] big coned variety— made every way stronger from hardship of its life. tasseled branches very beautiful. — is not a very picturesque tree on western slope but [quite] so in many places on the East [forming] fine [studies] for this artist Cones purple 7 in long 4 thick at base.
