Covered atop with manzan [manzanita] chap [chaparral] 2 species [pungens] & glauca 3 or 4 pines -- ceanothus cherry chinq [chinquapin] oak etc [etcetera] Lava Cap 500 ft [feet] thick weathering into small fragments & into black soil. Beneath this lava there is a bed of waterworn bowlders derived from lava quartz granite & slate mostly the two latter, these are very perfectly rounded & polished & also rudely stratified, a few strata of sand & clay, with various sizes of bowlders
