114 A & BB two distinct gls [glaciers] [running] nearly par [parallel] & beginnings & termination at near same level ie 14000 & 9500. B is about 4 miles long narrow & cast into mass of cascades, terminates in ice cliffs 60 ft h [high], not a drop of HO from base, all sinks to reappear in springs 20 miles distant in Shasta Val [Valley]. In May & June water flows nearly or quite to Shasta River & carries large quantities of moraine matter, wh [which] is lighter than granite Immense quantities have been carried down & spread into chap flats by grand old flood
