Cocks black on brest [breast] with white feathers here & there. tail long & straight legs finely feathered live on Sage lvs [leaves] shelter in snow under sage brush, [huse] [house] & [food]

like insects in oak galls etc., noble fellows fly slow —Ind [Indians] eat then wear feather in Caps.

Robins yet in Bldy Can [Bloody Canyon] Ouzels on Carson & Walker Rivers & lake Tahoe wherever water or waves sing on bank & shore

Sq [Squirrel] (pine) also everywhere
