6 The [Young]Toul [Toulumne] [winding] [ ] [away] [ ] [ ] in willowy meadows Lichen Big [Polemonium] Alt [altitude] 1st mead [meadow] 9370-200! Island Mono Lake. Sunset Mono Lake was calm in the morning but a breeze fell upon it from the mtns [mountains] about noon wh [which] ruffled & then ridged & roughened it with white lapping waves We set out to [recross] to the mainland, a distance of 7 ms [miles] but after accomplishing most of this were [drivin] back on the island The waves came on [ ] [for] [ ] in turn upon the smooth sloping beach [laving] lashing sounds making memories of boy days at the sea.
