Liquid mellowness of tone with a [clearness] of expression
Song earnest not powerful no rival [save] the stream in [with] it [lvs]
In a particular manner engaged my attention in the course of my many rambles It frequents the sides of [rivers] & streams of [inform] [They]
Especially such as on clear [ ] with rocky pebbly margins alpine rills
It perches on stones or projecting crags legs bent breast declining head & tail up slanted It plunges into the water not dreading the strength of the current not head foremost from the air first alights on surface agility & dexterity with half opened wings disappears
(It frequents) As I made a raft & floated over this lake in still weather I know the character of bottom
