173 The cascades of this can [cañon] are the finest of the basin both forks are nearly destitute of trees Naked dome rock often slotted with NE [northeast] seams into wh [which] the stream tumbles edge wise The white lace like rings & seams in cascades are small [bubbles] upon every one of wh [which] the sun falls in silver light more gloriously than on a big ice [smoothed] [dome]
