Jan. 30. Cooler. Sky clearing. All congratulate on reviving change. Expect to reach next port of call, Mozambique, this afternoon. Arrived at 6:30. Discharging and taking on cargo by yelling at willing savages until after midnight. Very sultry with lavish lightning. Departed for Zanzibar about 1:30 A.M. Jan. 31. North wind. Cloudy hot afternoon. Land in sight most of the day. Feb. 1. Hot. North wind. Sky half clear. Clouds shapeless, melting into a sort of meteorological mud. Color of sea beautiful blue. Feb. 2. Arrived at Zanzibar at 6:00 A.M. Fine day though hot. Clouds beginning to take regular tropical form. The sun this evening set clear, like a glowing copper-colored ball. The first visible sunset
